About Moving Box Calculator
We make the boring part of a move countable. Tell the calculator your home type, rooms and how much furniture you have. It returns a box count by size, plus tape, paper, a truck size and a ±15% range. Label sheets and two checklists cover the rest of moving week.
Where the numbers come from: our own room-by-room allowances, not a survey. Each room has a set number of small, medium, large, wardrobe and dish-pack boxes at an "average" amount of stuff. That number is scaled by 0.75 for a minimal home or 1.3 for a full one. Box volumes plus furniture volume give cubic feet, divided by 0.8 for the share of a truck you can really fill. Typical truck capacities (cargo van about 250 cu ft, up to about 1,600 for a 26 ft truck) need to clear the load by 10%. The full table sits under "How we estimate" on the home page. Real homes vary, so buy a few spare boxes.
What we're not: a moving company, a truck-rental firm or a box seller. We don't take money from moving or truck companies, and none of them shaped these numbers. The change-of-address checklist points you to the official USPS change-of-address page; we don't file anything for you.
What stays private: everything you type, label or tick stays in your browser.
